The user can rest the feet on foot plates and there are steering wheels or handlebars for changing directions. Mobility scooters typically run on batteries and are great for travels for anyone who has movement problems.

Some of the reasons why the movement is often impaired are when people are affected with diseases such as cerebral palsy, arthritis, broken bones in legs, cardiac or thoracic ailments, gout, injuries, balance problems, sprains and strains, impairment of vision etc

Social pressure at times can create a stigma around the use of mobility aids. Even if people need such devices, they tend to avoid it out of low confidence or dogmas. Mobility aids can help anyone who has an issue with walking or movement and hence the family members must encourage them to use these devices for leading a better life. A free and relatively painless lifestyle can be followed if the right equipment is used in the right manner.
